Brief History: Haley James Scott grew up in Tree Hill, North Carolina, which means she's had a very eventful life.
Until her Junior year in high school, Haley was a typical teenage girl. The youngest of a large family, she spent a lot of time with her best friend Lucas Scott and his mother, Karen. She thought they needed her more than her family did. She worked in Karen's Cafe and in the school's Tutor Centre.
And then, she started tutoring Nathan Scott. At first it was so he would stay away from Lucas, his half-brother who he then lived to torment. But there was something there, and she couldn't fight it. They started dating, and she fell for him fast and hard. They believed so strongly in what they had they got married at the age of sixteen.
Not surprisingly, life didn't exactly go smoothly for them. Haley is a talented singer and songwriter, and when she was given an opportunity to chase that dream, she took it. It almost ended their relationship.
She returned to Tree Hill, and eventually reconciled with Nathan. Soon after she discovered she was pregnant with her son, James Lucas Scott, who was born the day she graduated high school.
Four years later, Haley teaches High School English. Nathan's NBA dreams were dashed when he was thrown through a window in a bar fight. He struggled to walk again and it put serious strain on their relationship. But they both worked at it and both Nathan and their marriage have made an almost full recovery. Nathan has been working towards his dream again.
Life hasn't been easy but he has a place on a team now. It's not the NBA, but he's chasing his dream. She doesn't even mind starting over in a new place. Sure it'll be tough, but she has Nathan and Jamie. And that's all she needs.
